Heliamphora folliculata – Murosipan Tepui is one of the most distinctive species locality forms in the genus, instantly recognised by its swollen, follicle-like pitcher base. Native to the Los Testigos tepui group in southern Venezuela, it grows in open, mist-covered highland habitats shaped by cool nights, frequent rainfall, and nutrient-poor substrates.

In habitat, these demanding conditions have produced a species with thick-walled, robust pitchers and an expanded basal chamber that gives H. folliculata its signature look. Pitchers rise upright with strong structure and a prominent nectar spoon, which contains large extrafloral nectaries — a unique feature noted in the species’ original description and thought to help prevent nectar dilution during heavy tepui rainfall.

In cultivation, the Murosipan form develops excellent structure and rigidity, with pitchers typically starting fresh green before taking on warm bronze and red tones. With strong, clean light, colour can deepen significantly, with some plants developing rich red hues while retaining the bold, sculptural base that defines the species.

This is a species prized for shape first, colour second — confident, unusual, and instantly recognisable in any Heliamphora collection.

This offering is a division, meaning the plant is genetically identical to the parent. As a result, growth habit, form, and colour are more consistent, with less variation compared to seed-grown plants
